Bobby Darin was a great guy. Played practical jokes on us ... very down to earth.
He opened the show himself - unusual for a headliner. He came out in a glitzy outfit and did a set of his hits with the big band behind him. Then the group I conducted for came on in the middle and did their thing. (They also sang backup vocals during his parts of the show.)
After we finished, Bobby came back on in his denim suit and did a more or less acoustic set, ending with Simple Song of Freedom - and brought down the house.
