As Long As I'm Singing: The Music Of Bobby Darin

Starring Dennis Tufano, the original voice of The Buckinghams!

"Have you ever spent an evening you never wanted to end? Such was the
case on Saturday, October 27 at the Skokie Theatre in Skokie, Illinois. Dennis Tufano, former lead singer of the 1960's rock group The Buckinghams, gave a warm, glowing tribute to his one of his idols, the multitalented singer,

Beyond the Sea: A Tribute To Bobby Darin

On November 4, 2007, Connie Jeffrey and I along with approximately 150
other people attended a Bobby Darin Tribute in downtown Chicago at the Thompson State of Illinois Building.

"Beyond the Sea: A Tribute To Bobby Darin" was presented by the Italian-American Human Relations Foundation of Chicago. Anthony Rago, the featured performer, skillfully sang Bobby Darin favorites Beyond the Sea, Mack the
Knife
, Queen of the Hop, More, Clementine, Lazy River, and Dream
Lover
.  Mr. Rago also gave the audience some background on Bobby and his music before performing each song.  He is very definitely a geniune Bobby
Darin fan.

In addition to the wonderful Bobby Darin music, George Walsh sang songs made famous by Perry Como.  Sean Harris sang the songs of Sammy Davis, Jr., and Carole March sang the songs of Peggy Lee. Deserving of special mention was Sean's rendition of What Kind of Fool Am I for which he received a standing ovation.

The Joe Vito Orchestra provided the outstanding musical accompaniment.

My only criticism is that there were no pictures of Bobby Darin on the stage or
in the lobby area.  That would have certainly added to our enjoyment of the otherwise outstanding, if somewhat pricey ($50), program.

It was a wonderful afternoon.  Connie and I really enjoyed this tribute to our
guy!
